A good photograph is knowing where to stand - Ansel Adams

More than almost any other coastal building, a lighthouse can be virtually guaranteed to have an associated story. In some cases, it may be a tale of the dying breed of lighthouse keepers and of a struggle for survival in the face of modernisation.

Castles & Ancient Places

There is something compelling about the ancient. There's no more intriguing a challenge than to capture centuries of history in 1/50th of a second. A castle was often more than a defensive structure; it was a projection of power and wealth. As such, there is nearly always a story waiting to be told behind the parapets.

Wildlife & Nature

The word safari originates from Swahili, and simply means long journey. Having now bounced around in a Land Cruiser across much of northern Tanzania and southern Kenya, I'm in no position to disagree.

Such a journey is well rewarded though; the national parks of Serengeti and Masai Mara in Tanzania and Kenya are rightly world famous. The parks teem with predators, as well the 2 million or so Zebra and Wildebeest that make their annual circular migration though the area.

First and foremost, I'd call myself a landscape photographer. Ultimately, I believe this stems from a love of the outdoors - even today, my favourite 'photographic equipment' remains my walking boots.

As much as I enjoy studio photography, it will never compare with the privilege of visiting some of these wonderful locations.

Live Music

As a landscape photographer, live music is currently a bit of an experiment for me; but who can turn down an opportunity to get into a gig for free?

For the moment, in an attempt to bulk up my live music portfolio, I'm happy to shoot up and coming bands for the cost of my expenses. If you're interest in commisioning me to cover a live performance, please contact me at the link to your right.
